Sophie Chen
Co-Founder and Co-Editor-In-Chief
Sophie is a high school senior in Massachusetts. Her research interests span ancient Mediterranean and Chinese history, with a particular focus on cross-cultural encounters, identity, and the transmission of ideas across civilizations. She has conducted independent research in ancient history and late antique literature and presented her work at international academic conferences. Through Aurea Chronica, Sophie hopes to build a global community where young scholars can share research, engage across traditions, and discover new ways of approaching the ancient world.
Jasmine Yuan
Design Director
A junior living in Massachusetts. As an art-lover, she is interested in how art has transformed humanity and its influence on history and culture. Her role as design director for Aurea Chronica helped deepen her understanding about art portrayal in classics.
Levan Cheng
Managing Editor: Visual Art
Levan Cheng is a managing editor for the fourth issue of Aurea Chronica. With five years of experience in the Classics field, she possesses knowledge in ancient Rome and Greek culture, language, and history. Having participated in several essay competitions such as Scholastic and John Locke, she is passionate about both analytical and creative writing.
Eason Wang
Managing Editor : Creative Writing
I am a student with a strong interest in Latin, Classics, history, and writing, especially in exploring ancient pieces such as Ovid. My writing has been recognized in competitions including the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, experiences that have strengthened my creative expression skills. I also regularly participate in Latin competitions, which have deepened my understanding of the language, Roman history, mythology, and classical culture. Beyond competitions, I enjoy bringing together my interests in history and writing to examine the ancient world from both scholarly and creative perspectives. As an editor, I hope to help other students develop their ideas and voices while making the magazine a space where Latin and Classics feel engaging, relevant, and accessible.
Jenna Liang
Co-Editor-In-Chief
Jenna Liang is a Senior at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, she has been exploring the Classical world since middle school, crediting the Percy Jackson and Goddess Girls series with sparking her enduring love of Greek and Roman mythology.
A playwright and satirist, Jenna delights in giving Hellenistic myths her own contemporary twist, reframing ancient tropes and archetypes through a modern lens. At Aurea Chronica, she brings this creative perspective to the study and presentation of the ancient world, helping create space for both scholarly inquiry and imaginative engagement with the Classics.

I’m Amanda Mao and I’m a junior attending Dana Hall School in Massachusetts. I’m interested in various topics such as Classical literature, Classical reception, gender studies and sociology. Currently, I’m working on a project about the reception of the Classics during the Suffrage movement in the United States.

Grace Hu
Managing Editor
Senior attending high school in Connecticut. Currently studying and reading texts in Latin, including literature, poetry, laws, and codices. Having analyzed progressions and changes of rights over time through reading and translating laws from Latin (Roman and later), she believes that translation and other actions one makes to understand the classical texts is “rewriting” it in their own perception. Thus, similarly, by participating in this magazine, reading or editing, we are participating in trends over time.
